The Malaika School

The Malaika School was founded in 2011 by Noella Coursaris Muskana. Malaika is a free primary and secondary school for girls in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The school provides the highest level education as well as two meals a day. These meals are often the only ones the students receive. The students also receive frequent check ups from the school’s health center. Malaika has also built a community center in partnership with FIFA. The center provides vocational, health, and sports programs to the 7,000 youth and adults in the area. Finally, in partnership with FIFA and the VOSS Foundation 17 wells and 12 sanitation facilities have been built for the school and surrounding communities. These provide water and sanitation for nearly 33,000 people who would otherwise not have it.
